Event Descriptions
What are "compulsories?"
Compulsories are a set of required vaulting exercises judged on: Mechanics, Essence, Form, Scope, Security, Balance, Continuity, and Harmony with the Horse. They are foundational exercises that get more technical as vaulters progress up the levels and they are scored on a scale of 0 to 10. Compulsories are preformed at the walk, trot, and canter levels.
What Is a "Freestyle?"
A freestyle is a routine of static and dynamic exercises that are performed as an individual, pas de deux (pair) and teams. The allotted time varies and is defined in each class section. The routines are performed to music that can either be instrumental or with vocals and are the ultimate expression of the performer.
What is a "Pas de deux?"
A Pas de Deux is composed of two vaulters of any combination of male or female that perform a freestyle routine of static and dynamic exercises within an allotted amount of time.
What are the different "rounds (R1, R2)?"
Some events have multiple "rounds" listed in their division (i.e. Bronze Individual Compulsories R1 and R2). The second round allows vaulters to perform for a second time, which give them an overall average score for final divisional placings.
